In the period between April 20 and April 26, 2009, the Town of Split hosted the second annual event of “extended performance”. The concept of this year’s festival was based on the meaning of the word DOPUST
(eng. break, leave, sabbatical), as various projects were presented at different locations.
Performances, multimedia happenings and interactive shows were mostly presented in the building planned for the future town “Aquarium” or within public urban spaces. Musical performances with experimental DJ, VJ and live band performances were also held in the Aquarium, and the screenings and public discussions took place in the Zlatna Vrata film library. The festival guests were renowned artists from Holland, Lithuania, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Poland, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo and Slovenia.
According to the information taken from the official festival blog, the aim of the programme is to enhance the cultural life of the Town of Split, by defining the already existing vital scene of authors, theoretician, students actively involved in the public life and culture and mobilizing the critical mass of people that have the ability to execute and inspire projects of this kind. |
